Strengthening of RC Beams using Steel Plate-Fiber Concrete Composite Jackets (Finite Element Simulation and Experimental Investigation)

In this research, steel plate-fiber concrete composite jackets (SPFCJ) was used to strengthen the RC beams. The accuracy of analysis method evaluated by modeling beams fabricated in laboratory, and a good agreement observed. Variables finite element (FEM) include strength class main beam (15, 20, 25 MPa), length (1.4 2.8 m), type (RC jacket, SPFCJ, CFRP sheet), jacket thickness (40, 60 80 mm). SPFCJ is effective for all three grades increased energy absorption capacity 1.88, 2.07, 2.25 times, respectively. bearing strengthened with mm 79 20% more than values corresponding 40 thickness. parameter significantly influences response proposed jackets. Depending on dimensions geometric characteristics beam, appropriate should be considered, increasing can not always improve capacity.
